The 8th IUCN Asia Regional Conservation Forum (RCF) opened on September 3, 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand, with over 600 representatives from governments, civil society organizations, donors, academia, and the private sector from the Asian region gathering together. More than 80 representatives from IUCN members in China attended the conference, and the Federation, as a member unit of IUCN, was invited to participate in this conference. The forum lasted for three days, with the theme "Reshaping Asia's Nature Conservation, Towards a Future Benefiting from Nature." The aim was to assess the progress of nature conservation, re-examine priority goals, and propose strategic directions to effectively address environmental and biodiversity challenges over the next 20 years.  ACEF's International Cooperation Department's foreign affairs officer attended the conference in full, followed the latest developments of IUCN on issues such as biodiversity, and shared the Federation's actions and experiences on these issues with other participants. During the meeting, feedback and suggestions were provided on IUCN's 20-year strategic vision and the 2026-2029 plan. At the same time, experiences and practices in biodiversity conservation were exchanged with IUCN headquarters, various country offices, and organizations from multiple countries and regions in Asia, especially discussing the possibility of future cooperation on Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs) . Through this exchange, the Federation provided feedback on IUCN's strategic planning to ensure that global environmental protection strategies are more in line with actual needs. In addition, our participation has laid a solid foundation for future cooperation in the field of environmental protection, working together with all parties to promote regional and global environmental protection processes . |
